Waldouck Signs for the Northampton Saints

Aviva Premiership Rugby Union side the Northampton Saints has completed the signing of centre Dominic Waldouck from fellow Premiership side the London Wasps for an undisclosed fee ahead of the new season of professional rugby in England. The 24 year old centre is a product of the famed youth academy of The Wasps and came up through the ranks to make 114 senior first class appearances for the side, scoring 17 tries in the process.

The centre was under a contract with The Wasps but according to reports received, he had handed in a transfer request to the club and The Jimmies had to part with a significant amount of money to secure his services.

According to the player himself, it was really difficult decision for him to take, especially since he has been associated with the club for such a long time. However, he added that it was the right time for him to leave with his career taking off.

Waldouck also added that he harbors the ambition of playing for the England national team and according to him, playing in a competition such as the Heineken Cup with the Northampton Saints on a regular basis will help him achieve that career objective. He went on to add that he knows Jim Mallinder from the time they worked together at the National Academy and knows that he is adept at producing teams that play an extremely attractive brand of rugby.

Waldouck has won the Heineken Cup before with the London Wasps as well as the Aviva Premiership but his aims are lot higher at the moment, and he hopes to be able to achieve those lofty heights while playing for the Northampton Saints, a team that regularly fights for success both at home in the Premiership and in Europe.
